The technology
The photoacoustic wave technology is based on the delivery of high-frequency ultrasonic pulses to the skin, previously covered with a moisturizing gel that contains hyaluronic acid.
The transducer material generates high-frequency ultrasound waves after laser light absorption. As a consequence, the skin is permeabilized for a few minutes (fig. 2), enabling a drug in topical formulation to diffuse into the dermis (fig. 3).
The ultrasonic energy delivered by photoacoustic waves is lower than what is used in physiotherapy and after the procedure, the skin recovers its barrier effect and returns to its original structure and function in few minutes, making the technology completely safe (fig. 4).
The results with hyaluronic acid are visible right after the first application.
